We are happy to answer your questions (see “Ask Monique”). Also see our product descriptions, and of course our Skin Care FAQ’s – they help to explain what you should be using for your skin type and how best to use them.

Do you test your products on animals?
Definitely not! We only select products that state unequivocally that they are not tested on animals.

I've tried so many products – do your products really work? I'm getting frustrated with all the promises.
Yes, they do work. We have selected products that we KNOW work as they say they will. Whether you want to stop breakouts, address the signs of aging, or soothe sensitive skin, Celazome is here to help you with a customized treatment routine; personalized to meet your skin care needs. Since 1994, Celazome has been an industry leader worldwide treating all skin types with our award-winning skincare products. Are your products for men too?
Absolutely! Men are also interested in looking and feeling their best, and that's why our products are formulated with men in mind as well. Celazome products leave a non-greasy finish, don't have a ton of fragrance and are attractively packaged without fluff. Celazome Skincare is for both men and women who want real results from exceptional products that really work.

Are all your products fresh?
Absolutely! We are the exclusive NZ and Australian distributor of our products. We purchase direct from the manufacturer and have our orders air freighted straight to our temperature-controlled storage facility. Regular quality control ensures we can offer you a 100% money-back guarantee.

What makes Celazome® products so great?
Producing superior results requires products that not only treat the surface of the skin, but actually strengthen and improve the skin you have. Our skin is our barrier to the world, protecting us from viruses, environmental damage and other contaminants. Celazome products are formulated to build up this imperative first line of defense. Lyphazome® nanotechnology delivery system transports ingredients deep into-not just onto-the skin. Using nanotechnology means we encapsulate ingredients in very small delivery vessels called nanospheres. We load up these nanospheres with all natural, plant-based, food-grade bioactives to create our patented nanotechnology, Lyphazome. Not all nanospheres are created equal nor produce the same results. Key to the effectiveness of nanotechnology skincare is the actual size of the nanosphere. Dermazone has spent over 14 years in research and development to determine the perfect nanosphere size: small enough to easily penetrate the skin's natural surface barrier, yet large enough to not be counterproductively absorbed by the body. Our nanospheres measure 125 to 150 nanometers in radius, or 1/50th the size of a human skin cell. All Celazome formulas deliver a minimum of 80 percent of the ingredients into the skin-not just onto-the surface. These ingredients form a partnership with the skin, creating a matrix with cells that strengthens the skin's natural defense structure. In addition, the nanospheres release these natural ingredients over time-eight hours or more-replacing lost moisture and nutrients throughout the day. The 20 percent non-encapsulated ingredients provide immediate surface benefits, acting like "breakfast for the skin," whereas time-released nanospheres provide nutrition throughout the day.

How many applications are there in the skincare products?
When used as directed, Celazome skincare products last for approximately 2-3 months.

Can you tell me more about the ingredients?
Of course! We love telling people about the ingredients in our skincare products, and why they’re good for the skin! Click on the "Find our more" button below each product to see a list of its ingredients. And if you want to know details about a particular ingredient, please go to our Glossary page for an explanation of each of the ingredients used in our range of products.

Where are Celazome® clinical skincare products made?
Celazome® develops its products at its ultra high-tech, FDA approved facility in St Petersburgh, Florida, U.S.A.

What is the shelf life of Celazome® products?
Celazome® products have an unopened shelf life of almost 5 years! from the date of manufacture. We recommend that on opening and storing the product correctly, the shelf life will be approximately 6 months. The ingredients are active and need to be used. The best way to keep your skincare fresh - is to use it daily!

How do I store my skincare products?
Because our products are fresh, please store below 30 degrees C and away from direct sunlight. It is preferable to keep products in a drawer or cupboard and away from heat sources. If you live in a very hot and/or humid climate, please store products in the refrigerator.

What is the shelf life of Healing Anthropology® products?
If stored in a cool dry place our creams and lotions have approximately a 5-6 month shelf life. All other products have a 10-12 month shelf life. Refrigerating products will extend the shelf life.

Can I use Celazome products if I have Rosacea?
Yes, in fact Serum Vitae is specifically designed for Rosacea relief. It is a high potency antioxidant moisturizer designed to counterbalance free radical damage while stimulating dermal repair and cell renewal. It greatly improves skin's clarity, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, soothes and softens.

What is nutriceutical?
A nutrient that is held to provide health or medical benefits.

Is it normal if a product separates?
Absolutely. Truly natural products, like Healing Anthropology’s, do not contain chemical emulsifiers and will have some separation. Just think about natural peanut butter versus a typical hydrogenated oil-filled peanut butter.

What does SPF mean? What is the difference between SPF 15 and SPF 30? Is it double the protection?
SPF stands for: Sun protection factor. A scale for rating the level of sunburn protection in sunscreen products. The higher the SPF, the more sunburn protection. An SPF 30 does not provide double the protection. The difference is only in time. To demonstrate this difference, see the information below:

For example, if your skin starts to burn in 10 minutes without any sun protection then a product labeled SPF 15 gives you 15x or 150 minutes of protection. SPF 30 gives you 30x or 300 minutes of protection.

However, the amount of UVB rays that are absorbed is NOT double. It is calculated as follows:

* SPF 15 - allows 1/15 or 6% of the UVB rays to get through to your skin, giving you 94% UVB protection.
* SPF 30 - allows 1/30 or 3% of the UVB rays to get through to your skin, giving you 97% UVB protection.

What is UVA? (Aging Radiation)
Ultraviolet light, type A. These are rays of light from the sun which are not visible but can cause damage to the skin. UVA rays emitted by the sun are the deepest penetrating UV radiation. UVA rays cause wrinkles and premature aging in the skin. Additionally, the effects of UVA rays are cumulative, and may contribute to DNA damage as well as skin cancer.

What is UVB? (Burning Radiation)
Ultraviolet light, Type B; The ultraviolet light frequency that causes burning of the skin. UVB rays emitted by the sun cause sunburns and are responsible for causing skin cancer. UVB rays have shorter wavelengths than UVA rays, and affect the upper layer of the skin. The body produces Melanin to protect skin cells from UVB rays, and overexposure results in sunburn.

What exactly is a suntan?
A suntan is caused by an increase in melanin, the pigment in your skin. Melanin gives skin its natural color. The more melanin, the darker the skin’s color. When UV rays contact the skin, a special type of skin cell makes and releases more melanin. This is a defensive response, as melanin can partially protect the skin from some of the harmful effects of the sun. But remember: there’s no such thing as a safe tan! A tan is a sign that some cells in your skin have already been injured by the sun. It’s your skin’s attempt to prevent further damage. You can see how to get a safe tan by going here (Magic Tan)

Are tanning beds safer than the sun?
No! Tanning beds use UVA rays, and although UVA rays are milder than UVB rays, their wavelengths are longer and they penetrate deeper through the skin's layers. UVA rays contribute to wrinkling and burning the skin, as well as to the development of skin cancer. So it doesn't matter if tanning beds are advertised as a method to tan safely, artificial UVA rays in tanning booths not only inflict the same type of skin and eye damage as the sun, but also may be as much as 20 times stronger than natural sunlight. You can see how to get a safe tan by going here (Magic Tan)

Do I need some sun exposure to make Vitamin D?
5 to 10 minutes of sun exposure per day is enough for your body to make Vitamin D. You get this much just going about your daily activities.

What causes dry skin, and what can I do to improve it?
When skin is dehydrated, the water content of the very top layer of skin is reduced, causing it to shrink. This shrinkage creates many of the familiar symptoms of dry skin, including itching, scaling, loss of elasticity and tightness. Scratching further damages the skin, leaving it vulnerable to infection.

Some causes of dry skin include:

* Overheated rooms
* Low humidity
* Cold winter air
* Excessive sun
* Too much soap and water, which washes away natural oils
* Cleansing in hot water

What is the difference between a wrinkle and a fine line?
A wrinkle is defined as a crease or furrow in the skin caused by the natural process of aging, by excessive exposure to the sun's damaging rays, or environmental insults. For example, if you look in the mirror and see crow’s-feet around your eyes ? these are wrinkles. If you stretch a wrinkle in the crow's-feet area, you will still see it. However, a fine line (or “expression line“) is a small wrinkle that may be caused by the contraction of facial muscles during smiling or frowning. When you stretch the skin of a fine line, the lines are barely visible. When these muscles contract, they pull the skin in, causing a line. And the muscles controlling frown lines between the brows may contract even when the muscle is resting, causing deep lines — which could result in the start of a wrinkle.

What causes acne?
The truth is that we don't know the entire story, but there are several facts that are known. Acne is caused by several contributing factors. Hormones are a major influence on acne. That's why you don't see acne before puberty. In women, birth control pills can either aggravate or improve acne. This probably depends on your response to the progestins in birth control pills. Bacteria contribute to acne - which is why either oral or topical antibiotics help. Greasy creams, perspiration, headbands and other things that can plug up pores make acne worse. Stress doesn't help either. What you eat is generally not a major contributing factor to developing acne.

What are the things I should most avoid to take good care of my skin?
Here are the Top Ten enemies of your skin!

MEDICATIONS: Drugs and medications may have an adverse effect on the skin. Many medications impact the skin in a variety of ways. Discuss the potential side effects with your doctor and adjust your skin care program accordingly.

ALCOHOL: Another subject under study shows that there is probably a link between alcohol consumption and aging. Alcoholics show signs of increased aging, but study results seem to indicate that it is more a matter of how your body processes alcohol rather than if you drink or not. Alcohol can leave toxic by-products in the tissues that can speed up aging. It can also weaken capillary walls and cause blotchiness. In addition, alcohol draws water out of the tissues and leaves the skin dull and dehydrated. However, moderate intake is perfectly okay and may even be beneficial.

DEHYDRATION: The skin ages due to the deterioration of the elastic tissues (composed of elastin and collagen). In most cases, the skin becomes dry/dehydrated, age spots occur and some people notice small broken capillaries. Premature aging can be prevented to some extent by a daily skin care program, and well balanced diet and avoiding things that are known to speed the aging process. One of the best preventative measures you can take is to drink 8 eight ounce glasses of pure water a day - STAY HYDRATED FOR HEALTHY SKIN!

LACK OF EXERCISE: Exercise improves blood circulation and improves the tone of the skin, resulting in a healthy glow. It also improves the skin's elasticity, strength and firmness.

WEIGHT GAINS AND/OR LOSSES: Frequent weight gains and losses can also dramatically affect the elasticity of the skin. When the weight is gained, the skin stretches to accommodate the excess weight. When a lot of weight is lost, quickly, the skin doesn't have time to accommodate the changing contours and sagging and premature wrinkling can occur. Gradual weight loss should not impact the skin, although a reduced calorie diet can cause the skin to look dull and lifeless unless the diet is well balanced.

VITAMIN DEFICIENT DIET: Ongoing research is beginning to show a link between a relatively nutritious diet and improved skin tone. It has been shown that people suffering from malnutrition show obvious signs of increased aging because of vitamin deficiencies but what extent diet plays a role in the overall aging process has yet to be determined (but it can't hurt to eat sensibly). Again, there is unanimous agreement that drinking 8 glasses of water per day improves the beauty of your skin.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTANTS: Air pollution can be very harmful to the skin. Areas of your body that are protected show less signs of aging than those that are exposed to the pollutants in the air. The best ways to fight against the effects of pollution are to be sure and use a safe soap morning and night to remove dirt and irritants from the surface of the skin and to protect the skin by using a moisturizer every day. Women can also use foundation which provides additional protection from the elements. There is also growing evidence to support the theory that high pollution levels increase ultraviolet rays which cause skin cancer in relatively young people.

THE SUN: The sun is one of the biggest culprits in the aging process. It speeds the aging process by breaking down the elastin and collagen in the skin. The results of sun damage include fine lines, brown spots and decreased elasticity and less softness in the skin's texture. The best defense against the sun is a regular sunscreen for everyday use and a high level sunscreen when you have to be outside. Be sure and use it on your neck and hands as well.

SMOKING: Next to sun exposure, smoking is the highest factor in wrinkling. Smokers have more wrinkles than people who don't smoke. Cigarette smoke releases free radicals that break down the vitamin C in the skin and contribute to premature wrinkling. Nicotine also causes small blood vessels and capillaries to contract, diminishing circulation and depriving the skin of nutrients.
